Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Diesel)
Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the company’s fleet of construction equipment and attachments. The work is a mix of shop and field service. This is a hands-on role for a self-starter who can work independently, communicate clearly with operators and management, and keep our equipment safe, reliable, and ready to work.
Responsibilities
- Perform repair and maintenance assignments across a mix of shop and field work.
- Diagnose the condition of company-owned heavy equipment and attachments.
- Perform repairs on hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems, including welding.
- Maintain positive and effective communication with operators, colleagues, vendors, and equipment manufacturers.
- Keep accurate records related to repair orders, parts, and time cards.
- Attend company-sponsored and manufacturer factory training classes as needed.
- Adhere to all company and industry safety practices.
- Overtime may be required from time to time.
Qualifications
- 5 years of heavy equipment repair and servicing experience (Required).
- Experience repairing construction equipment and related attachments.
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical systems, and structural repairs — including welding.
- Ability to work with limited supervision (a true “self-starter”).
- Basic computer skills to perform electronic diagnostics.
- Physical capability and dexterity required, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- A complete set of tools to perform related repairs.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (Required).
- Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record (Required).
- Good references from former employers and colleagues.
- Ability to reliably commute to North Bend, WA (Required).
General Foreman
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Direct supervision of crew members and subcontractors on site
- Schedule labor, equipment, inspections and materials for your project
- Calculate elevations, slopes and material quantities
- Ensure equipment on your site is maintained and operated safe and efficiently
- Perform on-site safety meetings
- Fill out daily job logs, timecards and extra work logs
- Read and understand blueprints
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Good communication and organization skills
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- First Aid card
- Trench safety-competent person
- Drug free
Dump Truck Driver
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Basic knowledge of mechanics and systems of a dump truck
- Able to navigate city streets
- Move equipment with a tilt deck trailer
- Knowledge of soils and gravels a plus
- Comfortable with Hauling Truck and Trailer
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Class A CDL
- Current DOT medical card
- Good communication and organization skills
- Drug free
Equipment Operator
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Safe and efficient operation of equipment for grading slopes, trenching mainline pipe, building demolition, clearing, foundation excavation, loading trucks, and installing utilities
- Establish grades and slopes from a benchmark using a laser
- Load trucks to weight depending on soil type and condition
- Knowledge of shoring and trench safety
- Install side sewers, drainage and water utilities
- Basic understanding of blueprints
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Good communication and organization skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Drug free
General Laborer/Topman
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Assist with demolition, excavation and installation of utilities
- Knowledge of laser levels, establishing grades and slopes
- Knowledge of underground sewer, storm and water piping
- Knowledge of trench boxes and shoring systems
- Able to operate gas cut off saw, compactors, pumps and other handheld power tools
- Maintain a clean and organized jobsite
- Install and maintain TESC measures
- Work in adverse weather and site conditions
- Lift up to 60 lbs
